WARRANT – FAILURE TO APPEAR, GUN LAW VIOLATION

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Gerrell G. Talbert, 29, of 120 Jerome Court, Labadieville, LA, on multiple charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 308 near Labadieville early Thursday.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation in the area of LA 308 and Violet Street and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Gerrel G. Talbert and engaged Talbert into an officer / violator interview.
The deputy also interviewed two passengers, one of which is identified as Denzell Washington, 30 of 142 French Lane, Lot B, Napoleonville, LA.
At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy summoned a K-9 to the location. The K-9 alerted positive during the vehicle sweep. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of a large caliber assault style rifle which was attributed to Gerrel G. Talbert. A criminal records check revealed that Talbert was a convicted felon and could not legally possess a firearm.
Gerrel G. Talbert was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Improper Use of Multi-Beam Road Lighting Equipment
*Failure to Appear in Court on February 17, 2022 on Charges of:
-Possession of Heroin
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
-Driving Under a Suspended Drivers License
Gerrel G. Talbert remains incarcerated with bond set at $25,000.
One of the remaining occupants, Denzell Washington, was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on multiple fugitive warrants for the City of Thibodaux. Denzell Washington remains incarcerated pending transfer to the Thibodaux Marshall’s Office.
