TRAFFIC INCIDENT / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
STEVEN T. SMITH, FRANK C. MAYFIELD
NAPOLEONVILLE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Steven T. Smith, 34, of 311 Assumption Street, Napoleonville, LA, and Frank C. Mayfield, 34, of 612 St. Joseph Street, Napoleonville, LA, on multiple felony drug charges arising out of a traffic incident near Napoleonville, LA.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation near Napoleonville and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Steven T. Smith. The deputy also made contact with the passenger, now identified as Frank C. Mayfield.
At some point, the deputy observed in plain view, a substance believed to be an illegal narcotic. The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle.
During the search process, a quantity of MDMA (Ecstasy) was recovered which was attributed to Steven T. Smith.
Deputies further determined that Frank C. Mayfield was wanted on multiple failure to appear warrants in Assumption Parish
Steven T. Smith and Frank C. Mayfield were both arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center as follows:
As to Steven T. Smith –
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA
*No Seat Belt
*Turning Movement and Signals Required
As to Frank C. Mayfield –
*Failure to Appear – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Failure to Appear – Prohibited Acts Schedule II
*Failure to Appear – Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Driving on Roadway
Laned for Traffic, No Tail Lamps, Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
Both Steven T. Smith and Frank C. Mayfield remain incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
