AGGRAVATED ASSAULT UPON A PEACE OFFICER

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Michael Jones, Jr., 32, of 6774 Highway 308, Belle Rose, LA on felony charges arising out of an incident near Belle Rose on Saturday.

Deputies responded to a request from Michael Jones, Jr. to assist him in retrieving personal belongings from a relative’s home.

A uniformed patrol deputy was in the process of assisting Michael Jones, Jr. when the Communications Division advised the deputy that there was a valid arrest warrant from St. James Parish on Jones.

The deputy attempted to take Michael Jones, Jr. into custody and Jones resisted that effort. In the process, Jones withdrew a razor / knife from his person and displayed that object in an aggressive manner towards the deputy. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Michael Jones, Jr. was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence
*Aggravated Assault Upon a Peace Officer

Michael Jones, Jr. remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
