BURGLARY OF A COMMERCIAL BUSINESS
WILLIE HAWKINS, JR. AND SHAWN RAINEY
BELLE ROSE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Willie Hawkins, Jr., 59, of 108 Matthew Street, Bertrandville, LA, and Shawn Anthony Rainey, 33, of 125 Grant Loop Road, Paincourtville, LA on felony burglary charges arising from two separate burglaries at a commercial business in Belle Rose on or about December 27, 2022.
On December 28, 2022, deputies were dispatched to the business and made contact with management who advised that on the evening of December 27, 2022, unknown individuals entered two buildings owned by two different entities on the premises and stole assorted materials, parts, and tools.
Investigating deputies were able to identify a suspect vehicle which led to the execution of a search warrant on Matthew Street in Bertrandville. As a result of that search, deputies were able to recover items related to the burglaries.
Through the process, Willie Hawkins, Jr. was identified as a suspect in the burglaries and he was subsequently arrested on Thursday.
After continued investigation, Shawn Anthony Rainey was identified as a suspect and he was arrested on Thursday evening following a foot pursuit.
Willie Hawkins, Jr. was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Simple Burglary – 2 Counts
*Detainer – Probation and Parole
His bond was set at $40,000 on the burglary counts and he was ordered held without bond on the probation violation.
Shawn Anthony Rainey was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Simple Burglary – 2 Counts
*Resisting an Officer – 2 Counts
Rainey remains incarcerated with bond set at $60,000.
