CONVICTED FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM
JAMON JAVON SIMONEAUX
PAINCOURTVILLE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jamon Javon Simoneaux, 30, of 2228 South Burnside Avenue, Gonzales LA, on felony firearms violations arising from a traffic stop Saturday evening east of Paincourtville.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed an eastbound vehicle on LA 70 East commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver. After speaking with the driver, the deputy made contact with the passenger, now identified as Jamon Javon Simoneaux. The deputy noted a fully loaded large caliber handgun within arms reach of Simoneaux. The deputy removed Simoneaux from the vehicle, in the interest of officer / violator safety and the deputy took possession of the handgun.
At this time, dispatch advised the deputy that Jamon Javon Simoneaux was a convicted felon on charges of Simple Burglary and Simple Criminal Damage to Property.
Therefore, Jamon Javon Simoneaux was prohibited from possessing a firearm. Simoneaux was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Jamon Javon Simoneaux was incarcerated and released on a $25,000 bond.
