SUBJECT: DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS / AGGRAVATED FLIGHT JERMINE RENARD GIBSON
BELLE ROSE – Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jermine Renard Gibson, 32, of 1407 McKinley Street, Donaldsonville, LA, on multiple charges related to illegal activity on Monday.
As part of an ongoing related investigation, Assumption Parish narcotics agents interceded on an ongoing transaction involving illegal drugs near Belle Rose. As agents converged on the location, suspects fled in different directions. An SUV attempted to leave the scene and sped off with agents in pursuit. That pursuit took agents into Ascension and Iberville parishes then back to Assumption and onto LA 996 near Brusly St. Martin.
At that point the suspect struck two sets of spike strips laid out by deputies which effectively ended the pursuit. Deputies engaged the suspect who violently resisted but eventually was arrested. That individual was identified as Jermine Renard Gibson.
A K-9 unit executed an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle. The K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics. A subsequent search of that vehicle yielded in excess of 800 doses of MDMA (Ecstasy) and a considerable amount of U.S. currency.
Jermine Renard Gibson was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on counts of:
- Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence (2 Counts)
- Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA (Ecstasy)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
- Aggravated Flight from an Officer
- Obstructing Public Passages
A 9mm handgun was also recovered. Jermine Renard Gibson remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
