FIREARM VIOLATIONS – LEROYAL SENTEL LANUS
BELLE ROSE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Leroyal Sentel Lanus, 34, of 125 Grisaffe Lane, Belle Rose, LA, on felony firearm violations arising from a complaint of shots being fired in the Grisaffe Lane area of Belle Rose on Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies responded to the complaint and upon arrival at the complaint location, a male subject was in the doorway of a home with what appeared to be a rifle in his hands. The individual was observed placing the firearm into the home.
The deputy made contact with the subject, now identified as Leroyal Sentel Lanus. Lanus consented to the deputy securing the firearm. The deputy noted the rifle to be an AR-15. Lanus advised the deputy that he had fired the rifle several times behind the residence.
A records check revealed that Leroyal Sentel Lanus was a prior convicted felon. The felony offense occurred in 2018, therefore prohibiting Lanus from possessing a firearm.
Leroyal Sentel Lanus was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Leroyal Sentel Lanus remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
