MURDER SUSPECT – SHONTUN JOSEPH
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of wanted murder suspect Shontun Joseph,21,of 160A Freetown Lane, Belle Rose, LA.
Joseph was arrested in Houston, Texas as a result of a combined effort between the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshall’s Office.
Joseph was wanted in connection with a shooting near Belle Rose on September 24, 2020 that resulted in the death of Cameron R. Brooks,21 of 7287 Sumrall Dr. ,Baton Rouge, LA.
As a result of this incident, an 11 year old child and a 51 year old male subject also received non life threatening gunshot wounds.
The Sheriff’s Office will be engaged with local prosecutors and the state of Texas to return Joseph to this jurisdiction.
Sheriff Falcon extends his appreciation to the Marshall’s Office for their assistance in apprehending Shontun Joseph.
Upon return to Assumption Parish, Shontun Joseph will be charged with the following:
* Second Degree Murder (One Count)
* Attempted Second-Degree Murder (One Count)
*Aggravated Second-Degree Battery (One Count)
*Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property (One Count)
*Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (One Count)
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities (One Count)
