SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Shemar Devin Lawson, 22, of 221 Elmira Court, Thibodaux, LA, on felony drug charges resulting from a deputy’s investigation of a driver acting suspiciously in the Labadieville area on Friday afternoon.
The uniformed patrol deputy first observed the vehicle in the Labadieville area as the driver reduced his speed drastically after seeing the deputy. The suspect vehicle then drove on LA 398 to Bayou L’Ourse and again was encountered by the deputy.
A stop of the vehicle was initiated, and the deputy conducted an interview of the driver, now identified as Shemar Devin Lawson. The driver did not possess a valid driver’s license. During the interview, Shemar Devin Lawson provided a cigarette pack to the deputy which contained suspected marijuana. The deputy summoned a K-9 to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. During a search of the vehicle, a quantity of Hydrocodone was seized.
Shemar Devin Lawson was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Hydrocodone
*Driver Must be Licensed
Shemar Devin Lawson was incarcerated and released on a $7,500 bond.
