TRAFFIC COMPLAINT – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
MALCOLM JOHN BAKER
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Malcolm John Baker, 52, of 312 Carol Street, Thibodaux, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a public initiated reckless driver complaint near Napoleonville on Monday evening.
Deputies responded to the complaint and located the vehicle near LA 308 and the LA 1008 Bridge. The deputy noted the vehicle to be driving in a careless manner and initiated a stop of the vehicle.
The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Malcolm John Baker and conducted an officer / violator interview. At the conclusion of that interview, the deputy believed that probable cause existed to continue the investigation.
The deputy deployed his K-9 which conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of methamphetamine.
Malcolm John Baker was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
Malcolm John Baker remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Malcolm John Baker was issued traffic citations for:
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
*Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection Tag
Baker was issued a court date for the traffic offenses.
