TRAFFIC – DRUG – GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of James E. Thomas, 38, of 113 Grant Loop Road, Paincourtville, LA, on charges following a pursuit situation late Saturday afternoon.
A patrol officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation near LA 308 and the LA 403 Bridge near Paincourtville, LA. As the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect fled westbound on LA 403 and at some point, jumped out of the vehicle and ran into a mobile home where he resides.
Sometime later, the suspect exited and peacefully surrendered. Deputies obtained a search warrant for the mobile home and as a result of that search, deputies seized U.S. currency, assorted drug paraphernalia, cocaine and crack cocaine. During the investigation, deputies also recovered a stolen firearm.
James E. Thomas was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charge of:
*Illegal Window Tint
*Flight from an Officer
*Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Resisting an Officer
*Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Crack Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
*Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm
*Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
James E. Thomas had previously been convicted of Attempted Second Degree Murder and served 5 years.
James E. Thomas remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
