TRAFFIC INCIDENT – CEDRIC D. DUPATY, DEMETRIC NELSON
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Cedric D. Dupaty, 38, of 120 Bertrand Street, Napoleonville, LA, and Demetric Nelson, 59, of 111 Violet Street, Labadieville, LA, on Friday evening, arising from a traffic incident on Violet Street north of Labadieville.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle parked in the middle of Violet Street in a manner as such as not to allow normal flow of traffic.
As the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver, now identified as Cedric D. Dupaty, backed into a private driveway. The deputy made contact with Dupaty and the second occupant identified as Demetric Nelson and commenced an interview of each subject.
The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana and observed in plain view a quantity of suspected MDMA (Ecstasy).
The deputy conducted a criminal history and warrants check on both individuals and was advised of multiple failure to appear warrants from the 23rd Judicial District Court, Assumption Parish on Demetric Nelson.
Both Cedric D. Dupaty and Demetric Nelson were arrested. The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During the search process, deputies recovered crack cocaine, marijuana, additional MDMA (Ecstasy) pills, multiple doses of Hydrocodone, assorted drug paraphernalia and an amount of U.S. currency.
Cedric D. Dupaty and Demetric Nelson were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center as follows:
– As to Cedric D. Dupaty:
*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Crack Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of MDMA (Ecstasy)
*Possession of Hydrocodone
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Stopping, Standing, Parking or Obstructing Roadway / Private Driveways
Dupaty was released after posting a $30,000 commercial bond.
– As to Demetric Nelson:
*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Crack Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of MDMA (Ecstasy)
*Possession of Hydrocodone
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Failure to Appear – 2 Counts
Demetric Nelson remains incarcerated with bond set at $30,000.
Additionally, Nelson must post a cash bond totaling $1270.50 on the Failure to Appear Warrants.
