TRAFFIC INCIDENT – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS – JAMES J. JUNIOR JOHNSON
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of James J. Junior Johnson, 39, of 116 Palm Lane, Labadieville, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a traffic incident on Coleman / Johnson Street, south of Napoleonville, LA on Friday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy traveling the area of LA 400 and Coleman / Johnson Street, drove upon vehicles parked illegally and determined that the situation created a hazardous situation.
The deputy made contact with vehicle operators, one of which was identified as James J. Junior Johnson. The deputy conducted an officer / violator interview and at the conclusion decided that additional investigation was warranted.
A K-9 unit was summoned to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff and alerted positive to the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of that vehicle resulted in the seizure of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a large caliber handgun.
James J. Junior Johnson was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Driver to Secure a Vehicle Registration
*Stopping, Standing, or Parking Outside Business or Residence
James J. Junior Johnson remains incarcerated with bond set at $70,000.
