TRAFFIC INCIDENT – PURSUIT – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
I.C.E. ARREST – KEIFER ANDREW JONES
BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Keifer Andrew Jones, 312, of 119 Grisaffe Lane, Belle Rose, LA, on multiple felony charges resulting from a traffic incident / pursuit on Tuesday afternoon near Belle Rose.
A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a northbound vehicle on LA 308 commit a traffic violation and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver engaged the deputy into a pursuit situation which traveled into Donaldsonville, over the Sunshine Bridge to I-10 Sorrento. The pursuit continued for a distance and was successfully terminated near the LA 44 / I-10 exit in Gonzales.
The suspect then fled on foot but was captured a short time later.
A K-9 unit was utilized at the scene and the K-9 conducted an open air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A quantity of hydrocodone was seized from the personal property of the suspect driver, now identified as Keifer Andrew Jones.
The suspect was treated and released from a Gonzales hospital. Jones was released to the custody of the Gonzales Police Department to face related charges there.
Keifer Andrew Jones was released to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on Thursday morning. Jones was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Flight from an Officer
*Possession of Hydrocodone
*Resisting an Officer
*Driver Must be Licensed
*Speeding
*Simple Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce
*Intentional Littering Prohibited
*Failure to Appear in Court in Assumption Parish on September 05, 2023 on Charges of:
-Speeding
-Driver Must be Licensed
Bond on the failure to appear charges is set at $247.00.
Keifer Andrew Jones remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing on all remaining charges.
