TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS
CARLIN PETER GAUDET

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Carlin Peter Gaudet, 41, of 402 Belle River, LA, on felony charges arising from a traffic stop Monday afternoon near Pierre Part.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Carlin Peter Gaudet. During the officer / violator interview, the deputy identified multiple other vehicle violations. The deputy also noted Carlin Peter Gaudet to be very nervous. Out of an abundance of caution, the deputy conducted a protective pat down search of Gaudet’s person. During that process, the deputy seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Carlin Peter Gaudet was arrested.

During an inventory search of the vehicle in question, the deputy seized two rifles.

Carlin Peter Gaudet was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances (2 Counts)
*Insurance Required
*Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection Tag
*Obstruction to Drivers View or Driving Mechanisms
*No Seat Belt
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Carlin Peter Gaudet remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
