TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Deric Dbrillion Green, 30, of 186 Marshall Lane, Napoleonville, LA, on felony drug and gun law violations arising from a traffic stop on LA 70 east of Plattenville late Sunday.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a westbound vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Deric Dbillion Green.

The deputy noted a strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the suspect vehicle. The deputy engaged the driver in an officer / violator interview. The deputy’s observations included conditions consistent with illegal drug activity.

The deputy observed a large caliber weapon jammed between the driver’s seat and the center console. The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During the search, the assault style rifle was seized as evidence as well as quantities of Marijuana, Adderall and MDMA (Ecstasy). The deputy was advised by the Communications Division that Deric Dbrillion Green was a convicted felon, therefore could not legally possess a firearm.

Deric Dbrillion Green was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of MDMA (Ecstasy)
*Possession of Marijuana
*Proper Equipment Required on Vehicles
*Headlights Required

Deric Dbrillion Green remains incarcerated with bond set at $200,000.
