EXTORTION – SHELBEY LYNN BOURGEOIS
BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Shelbey Lynn Bourgeois, 40, of 407 Lessard Street, Donaldsonville, LA, on felony extortion charges accusing her of demanding money from a Belle Rose man in exchange for her not publishing personal messages to social media.
Deputies were dispatched to the 6900 block of LA 1 north of Belle Rose and made contact with the complainant who advised that over a period of time, he provided financial assistance to the accused who was homeless. The suspect now identified as Shelbey Lynn Bourgeois, began demanding money from the victim and threatened to publish sultry messages if he did not pay.
During Saturday evenings’ investigation, deputies were able to view reciprocal messages from both the victim and suspect’s phones. At the conclusion, deputies applied for and were granted arrest warrants for Shelbey Lynn Bourgeois.
Deputies from Assumption and Ascension Parish located Shelbey Lynn Bourgeois in Donaldsonville. She was arrested and transported to the Ascension Parish Jail where she was booked as a fugitive. Bourgeois was then transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center on felony charges of:

Shelby Lynn Bourgeois posted a $5,000 commercial bond and was released.
