TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG / GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Timothy R. Lopez, 38, of 447 Shell Beach Road, Pierre Part, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 70 near Agnes Street in Pierre Part early Wednesday.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Timothy R. Lopez and one other occupant of the vehicle and engaged both into an officer / occupant interview.
At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy believed that additional investigation was warranted. The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. The driver, Timothy R. Lopez acknowledged the presence of a firearm in the vehicle.
The deputy conducted a protective pat down search of Lopez and did seize drug paraphernalia and a quantity of methamphetamine. During the vehicle search, a semi-automatic handgun was seized.
Timothy R. Lopez was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Illegal Window Tint
*Modified Exhaust Systems
Timothy R. Lopez remains incarcerated with bond set at $10,000.
