TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
DEROME JUPITER

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Derome Jupiter, 35, of 114 Oak Ridge, Donaldsonville, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 70 East early Friday morning.

A uniformed patrol officer on regular assignment observed a vehicle with multiple equipment violations and initiated a stop to address the issues.

The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Derome Jupiter and commenced an officer / violator interview.

During the interview process, the investigating deputy noted several factors consistent with illegal drug activity and requested consent to search the vehicle which Jupiter granted.

In the process of that search, multiple doses of suspected Alprazolam (Xanax) was seized.

Derome Jupiter was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Alprazolam (Xanax)
*Headlamps Required on Motor Vehicle
*Illegal Window Tint
*No Driver’s License

Derome Jupiter remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
