TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Shonta Deveron Bell, 47, of 167 Highway 403, Napoleonville, LA, on felony drug law violations arising from a traffic stop on LA 70 west of Paincourtville, LA on Sunday afternoon.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Shonta Deveron Bell and conducted an officer / violator interview. The deputy determined that Bell was driving under a suspended driver’s license. At the conclusion of the interview, the deputy believed that additional investigation was warranted.
The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During the ensuing search, a quantity of marijuana, Hydrocodone and assorted drug paraphernalia was found.
Shonta Deveron Bell was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Hydrocodone
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Proper Equipment on Vehicles Required
Shonta Deveron Bell remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
