TRAFFIC STOP / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Javier Valentin, 48, of 400 East Jane Street, Abbeville, LA, on felony drug law violations arising from a traffic stop on LA 662 early Tuesday.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a southbound vehicle on LA 662 with an equipment violation. The deputy initiated a stop of that vehicle and made contact with the driver, now identified as Javier Valentin and engaged the driver in an officer / violator interview. The deputy noted licensing violations on the vehicle.

At some point, deputies conducted a protective pat down search of the suspect and did seize a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

Javier Valentin was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Methamphetamine

Javier Valentin remains incarcerated with bond set at $20,000.
