TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – SHANNON BIAS
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Shannon Bias, 31, of 508 College Street, Napoleonville, LA, on felony drug law violations arising from a traffic stop near LA 70 and LA 70 Spur east of Plattenville.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle in the aforementioned area with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of the vehicle.
The deputy made contact with the driver and conducted an officer / violator interview. The deputy then proceeded to interview the adult passenger, now identified as Shannon Bias. At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy believed that further investigation was warranted. The deputy conducted a protective pat down search of Shannon Bias and did recover drug paraphernalia and trace amounts of suspected illegal controlled dangerous substances.
The driver of the vehicle granted consent to search and during that search a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana was located and attributed to Shannon Bias. The deputy arrested Bias and booked him into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Illegal Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances in the Presence of Persons Under the Age of 17
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Methamphetamine
Shannon Bias remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
