TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – JAMES PETER DUHON
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of James Peter Duhon, 52, of 327 Bishops Court, Thibodaux, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 398 west of Labadieville, LA on Friday.
A narcotics assigned agent observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations and executed a stop of that vehicle. The agent made contact with the driver now identified as James Peter Duhon and engaged the driver in an officer / violator interview. At the conclusion of that interview, the agent believed additional investigation was warranted. The agent summoned a K-9 to the scene. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected methamphetamine, a firearm, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
James Peter Duhon was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection Tag
*Following Vehicles too Closely
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
James Peter Duhon was released on a $100,000 commercial bond.
