TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Edd L. Delatte, 53, of 149 Shell Beach Road, Pierre Part, LA, on felony charges related to a traffic stop on LA 1 near Plattenville, LA late Wednesday night.
A K-9 Unit on patrol observed a vehicle northbound commit a traffic violation and proceeded to stop the vehicle. The driver, now identified as Edd L. Delatte, appeared confused and was evasive. The deputy noted an odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from Delatte. As Delatte exited the vehicle, the deputy noted some signs of possible intoxication.
During the interview process, the deputy conducted a pat down search and seized a quantity of suspected marijuana. During the search of his person, Delatte became combative and began to violently resist. After a period of time, Delatte was arrested. An additional quantity of marijuana was located in the vehicle along with paraphernalia. Deputies also seized meth-amphetamine following the scuffle with Delatte.
Edd L. Delatte was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Facility on charges of:
*Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Obstruction of Justice
*Resisting an Officer with Force or Violence
*Driving Under Suspension
*Turning Movements and Signals Required
*Improper Equipment of Vehicle
*D.W.I. (First Offense)
Edd L. Delatte has a bond set at $35,000.
Delatte was arrested August 1, 2020 for similar drug and traffic related charges and was out on bond at the time of Wednesday’s arrest.
