TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

BAYOU L’OURSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Chance M. Landry, 31, of 117 Pond Drive, Bayou L’Ourse, Bethany Nichole Mecom, 28, of 3245 Hiawatra Drive, Shreveport, La. and Travis Joseph Skeen, 31, of 606 Aristile Road, Bayou L’Ourse, La., on felony charges arising out of a traffic stop late Thursday.
An I.C.E. assigned deputy in Bayou L’Ourse, observed a vehicle with equipment violations on Aristile Road and attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect attempted to flee, but was intercepted by a second Sheriff’s patrol unit near Aristile Road and LA 662. At that time, the suspect vehicle disregarded a stop sign and fled south on LA 662.
Deputies observed the suspects throw a brown paper bag from the vehicle which was later recovered and found to contain significant quantities of heroin and synthetic marijuana.
The suspect vehicle was eventually stopped approximately 1.25 miles south of Aristle Road.
Deputies made contact with the driver, now identified as Chance M. Landry as well as two passengers, now identified as Travis Joseph Skeen and Bethany Nichole Mecom.
A K-9 was summoned to the location and alerted positive for the presence of illegal narcotics.
After completion of the investigation, all three suspects were arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
-Chance M. Landry was charged with:
*Flight from an Officer
*Obstruction of Justice (2 Counts)
*Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Synthetic Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Third Offense-Felony)
*Head Lamps Required
*License Plate Light Required
*Disregarded Stop Sign
*Probation / Parole Violator
-Travis Joseph Skeen was charged with:
*Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Synthetic Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Obstruction of Justice
*Simple Assault (2 Counts)
-Bethany Nichole Mecom was charged with:
*Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute
*Possession of Synthetic Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Obstruction of Justice
All three suspects remain incarcerated pending bond hearings.
