TRAFFIC STOP – FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM
RONTRELL JOHNSON
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Rontrell Johnson, 37, of 211 Cardinal Street, Labadieville, LA, on felony gun possession charges arising from a traffic stop in Labadieville early Sunday.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation in the area of LA 398 and LA 1010. The deputy initiated a stop of that vehicle and made contact with the driver. The vehicle was occupied by multiple individuals. The deputy was able to interview all individuals including Rontrell Johnson. It was determined that Rontrell Johnson was a prior convicted felon. During a walk around of the vehicle, deputies observed a large caliber firearm protruding from under the seat. The firearm was seized.
Due to his convicted felon status, Rontrell Johnson was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Rontrell Johnson remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
