TRAFFIC STOP – FELONY GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jermaine Moland, 37, of 195 Ewell Street, Belle Rose, LA, on felony gun law violations following a traffic stop on LA 70 West on Friday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Jermaine Moland and interviewed the violator.
As a result of that interview, the deputy requested and was granted consent to search the suspect vehicle. During that process, deputies located a firearm. Based on a computer inquiry, deputies determined that Moland was a convicted felon.
Jermaine Moland was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Driving While Intoxicated (1st Offense)
*Driving on Roadway Landed for Traffic
*License Plate Light Required
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Jermaine Moland was incarcerated pending a bond hearing on the weapons charge.
