UNLIGHTED BICYCLE ON ROADWAY, DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PLATTENVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Calvin Joseph Nelson, Jr., 37, of 6015 Grant Road, Paincourtville, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic incident at LA 70 Spur and LA 308 in Plattenville, LA.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a bicycle without any lights or safety reflection tape and proceeded to investigate. The deputy made contact with the bicycle operator, now identified as Calvin Joseph Nelson, Jr. The deputy proceeded to do a protective pat down search of Nelson and during that process did seize a quantity of suspected crack cocaine.
Calvin Joseph Nelson, Jr. was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Crack Cocaine
*Bicycles, Front Lamps, Rear Lamps, Side and Rear Reflectors Required Between Sunset and Sunrise
Calvin Joseph Nelson, Jr. remains incarcerated with bond set at $10,000.
