TRAFFIC INCIDENT – VIOLATION OF A PROTECTIVE ORDER
I.C.E. ARREST – ALPHONSE D. WILLIAMS
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Alphonse D. Williams, 30, of 3947 Myers Street, Gray, LA, on felony charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 398 on Wednesday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Alphonse D. Williams. The deputy engaged Williams into an officer / violator interview. The deputy noted an odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The deputy determined that Williams was driving under a suspended license. Alphonse D. Williams became evasive in answers to specific questions prompting the deputy to investigate further.
A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and the K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive to the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. At some point the suspect driver turned over a small amount of marijuana to the deputy. Alphonse D. Williams disclosed to the deputy that he was under an active protective order filed in December of 2022 by a former domestic partner. During a search of Williams’ vehicle, a large caliber handgun was located and seized. Due to the active protective order, Williams was prohibited from possessing firearms.
Alphonse D. Williams was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Violation of a Protective Order
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Headlamps Required
*Possession of Marijuana
Alphonse D. Williams remains incarcerated with bond set at $100,000.
