DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
ELISHA MARIE BENOIT

LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Elisha Marie Benoit, 27, of 203 Caldwell Plantation Road, Thibodaux, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop in Labadieville.

The deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop.

The deputy made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, including one adult passenger identified as Elisha Marie Benoit. The deputy noted a strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

At the conclusion of the interviews, the deputy requested consent to search the vehicle which was granted. During the search, deputies located and seized marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and the prescription drug Flexeril, not within the confines of a prescription bottle. Also, there were two young children in the vehicle.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Elisha Marie Benoit was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Illegal Use of Controlled Dangerous Substances in the Presence of Persons Under the Age of 17 (2 Counts)
*Sale, Distribution, or Possession of a Legend Drug without a Prescription or Order
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Possession of Marijuana (1st Offense)

Elisha Marie Benoit remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
