PEDESTRIAN SAFETY CHECK- DRUG LAW VIOLATION

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Elvis J. Richard, 66, of 161 Georgetown Lane, Belle Rose, LA, on felony drug charges after deputies conducted a pedestrian safety check on LA 308 north of Belle Rose on Wednesday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a pedestrian on LA 308 walking in the roadway. For safety considerations, the deputy made contact with the pedestrian, now identified as Elvis J. Richard and determined that an outstanding warrant for his arrest was active.
As the deputy detained Richard, the subject discarded a small package near his feet. The deputy retrieved the package and found it to contain suspected crack cocaine.
Elvis J. Richard was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Crack Cocaine
*Failure to Appear in Court on a Charge of Aggravated Second Degree Battery
Elvis J. Richard remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
