SHOOTING INCIDENT – OMERION RASHAD WATTS
PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Omerion Rashad Watts, 19, of 1605 Windy Oaks Drive, Aransas Pass, Texas, on an attempted second-degree murder charge arising from a shooting incident near Paincourtville on Monday afternoon.
Deputies responded to the 6000 block of Grant Road in reference to a shooting. Deputies located one individual who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The individual was transferred to a healthcare facility for treatment.
Detectives initiated an investigation and determined that the victim and the suspect now identified as Omerion Rashad Watts were engaged in a conversation. At some point Watts fired multiple shots from a firearm striking the victim. Detectives continue to investigate events leading up to the shooting.
Approximately 1 (one) hour later, Omerion Rashad Watts was located in a nearby structure at which time he was arrested.
Omerion Rashad Watts was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Attempted Second Degree Murder – 1 Count
*Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
*Fugitive Warrant – Gonzales City Police – Domestic Abuse Battery with Child
Endangerment
Omerion Rashad Watts remains incarcerated with bond set at $1,000,000.
The victim continues to recover from his injuries.
