TRAFFIC INCIDENT – GUN LAW VIOLATIONS

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Brett Davis, 51, of 10500 Hayne Boulevard, New Orleans, LA, on multiple felony charges arising out of a traffic investigation on Friday evening off of LA 308 south of Napoleonville, LA.
Uniformed patrol deputies were dispatched to the area in response to a complaint of an individual traveling into oncoming traffic. Deputies located the suspect vehicle driving in the wrong lane of traffic as well as committing other dangerous maneuvers.
Deputies were able to stop the vehicle on LA 70 East. The suspect, now identified as Brett Davis, refused to exit his vehicle. Deputies were forced to engage the suspect which turned physical. The deputy noted a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from Brett Davis’ person
Brett Davis continued launching a series of verbal assaults upon deputies but was taken into custody. Deputies located a large caliber firearm in the suspect vehicle.
A search warrant was obtained ordering Brett Davis to provide a blood sample to deputies. Brett Davis had refused to submit a breath sample thus forcing the necessity for the search warrant.
It was further determined that Brett Davis was a prior convicted felon.
Brett Davis was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Aggravated Flight
*Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
*Driving While Intoxicated – Second Offense
*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
*Public Intimidation
*Resisting Arrest by Force or Violence
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Disregarded Stop Sign
Brett Davis remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
