TRAFFIC INCIDENT – PURSUIT – FOURTH OFFENSIVE D.W.I.
BHARAT MOONKISSOON, JR.

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Bharat Moonkissoon, Jr., 33, of 218 Convent Street, Labadieville, LA, on felony driving while intoxicated charges arising from a traffic incident early Saturday on LA 308 near Napoleonville.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a southbound side-by-side off road vehicle traveling 70 miles per hour in a 45 mile an hour zone and attempted a stop of the vehicle. The driver attempted to evade the deputy, but the officer was able to maintain visual contact with the vehicle and was able to terminate the pursuit south of Napoleonville.

The driver, Bharat Moonkissoon, Jr., was immediately taken into custody. He was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of:

*Driving While Intoxicated – Fourth Offense (Felony)
*Flight from an Officer
*Operating an Off-Road Vehicle Upon a Public Highway
*Speeding 70/45

Bharat Moonkissoon, Jr. was released after posting an $85,000 bond.
