TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
DWAYNE EDWARD JAMES – I.C.E. ARREST
BAYOU L’OURSE– Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Dwayne Edward James, 38, of 36114 Highway 38, Mount Hermon, LA, on felony drug charges as well as a fugitive warrant following a traffic stop on LA 662 in Bayou L’Ourse on Monday evening.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on LA 662 with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver who provided false information relative to his identity. It was then determined that the driver’s correct identity was Dwayne Edward James. Deputies noted that the vehicle had a switched license plate. Dwayne Edward James was detained pending additional investigation. During a protective pat down search, deputies seized drug paraphernalia. The deputy secured consent to search the vehicle and during the search, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine was seized.
During the investigation, deputies determined that Dwayne Edward James was a fugitive of Livingston Parish.
Dwayne Edward James was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Resisting an Officer
*Switched License Plate
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Tail Lamps Required
*Fugitive – Livingston Parish – Simple Burglary
Dwayne Edward James remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
