TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Nicole Lacoste Crochet, 38, of 1646 River Road, Berwick, LA, on felony drug law violations following a traffic incident on LA 70 early Friday.
A uniformed patrol deputy was on assignment assisting another deputy when he observed a vehicle approaching in a reckless manner.
The violator vehicle struck a pick up truck which was the subject of a prior incident.
The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Nicole Lacoste Crochet and noted her to be impaired and under the influence of alcohol.
At some point, the deputy requested consent to search the vehicle and then decided to summon a K-9 unit to the scene. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle which alerted positive for the presence of illegal substances.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of multiple controlled dangerous substances.
Nicole Lacoste Crochet was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Prohibited Acts Schedule I
*Reckless Operation with an Accident
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Driving While Intoxicated
*Unlawful Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test
*Procedure on Approach of an Authorized Emergency Vehicle
*Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in a Motor Vehicle
Nicole Lacoste Crochet remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
