TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. ARRESTS

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Jamiah Deron Harris, 31, of 139 B Violet Street, Labadieville, LA and Reneisha M. Jacobs, 32, of 6025 Grant Loop Road, Paincourtville, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop Wednesday evening on LA 308 near Belle Rose.

A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Jamiah Deron Harris and engaged Harris in an officer / violator interview. The deputy noted a pungent odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the passenger, now identified as Reneisha M. Jacobs and interviewed her as well. The deputy determined that additional investigation was warranted. The deputy summoned a K-9 unit to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies seized a quantity of synthetic marijuana.

In the investigative process, deputies determined that Jamiah Deron Harris was driving under a suspended license.

Jamiah Deron Harris was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Synthetic Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
*Speeding – General Speed Law
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*Fugitive – Lafourche Parish

Jamiah Deron Harris remains incarcerated with bond set at $25,000.

Reneisha M. Jacobs was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Synthetic Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

Reneisha M. Jacobs was incarcerated and released on a $15,000.
