TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. ARRESTS

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Leon John Chenevert, Jr., 44, of 6877 Highway 996, Belle Rose, LA and Lacy Kay Oliver, 38, of North Coolige Avenue, Gonzales, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on LA 308 near Belle Rose early Sunday morning.

A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a vehicle on LA 308 commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle.

The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Leon John Chenevert, Jr. and engaged the driver into an officer/violator interview. The deputy then interviewed the passenger. Upon completion of these interviews, the deputy believed that additional investigation was warranted.

A K-9 unit was summoned to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

Leon John Chenevert, Jr. was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Methamphetamine
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Driving Under a Suspended Driver’s License
*No Seat Belt

Leon John Chenevert, Jr. remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

Lacy Kay Oliver was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Possession of Marijuana
*Resisting an Officer
*No Seat Belt

Lacy Kay Oliver remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
