DOMESTIC INCIDENT – SECOND-DEGREE MURDER
CHARLES RENEE FAIR

PAINCOURTVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Charles Renee Fair, 38, of 6034 Grant Road, Paincourtville, LA, on charges of Second-Degree Murder and Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment arising from an incident in the 6000 block of Grant Road west of Paincourtville late in the evening of January 1, 2024.

Responding deputies located the body of a deceased male in a nearby yard in the 6000 block of Grant Road. The male victim sustained a stab wound to the left upper torso. The victim was identified as Donald Ray Tunson, Jr., 35, of Paincourtville.

Detectives initiated an investigation and determined that Charles Renee Fair approached a vehicle while armed with a knife and physically attacked a female known to him who was seated in the vehicle. Donald Ray Tunson, Jr, who was also in the vehicle, exited and was met by Fair at which time Fair stabbed Tunson, leading to his death.

Charles Renee Fair resumed his attack on the female with a child in her arms. Donald Ray Tunson, Jr. attempted to leave the area but collapsed as a result of his injuries and subsequently died. Charles Renee Fair fled the area.

At the conclusion of the initial investigation, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Charles Renee Fair.

On Wednesday, Charles Renee Fair turned himself in at the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

Charles Renee Fair was arrested and booked into the detention center on charges of:

*Second-Degree Murder
*Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment

Charles Renee Fair remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
