TRAFFIC STOP – DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – I.C.E. ARREST

BELLE ROSE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Keith J. Caballero, 65, of 7435 Highway 308, Donaldsonville, LA, on multiple felony charges arising from a traffic stop of LA 1 near Belle Rose on Wednesday evening.

A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. detail observed a north bound vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Keith J. Caballero and engaged the violator into an officer / violator interview.

The deputy noted a strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

At the conclusion of the interview, the deputy believed that additional investigation was warranted. The deputy removed Caballero from the vehicle and requested consent to search the vehicle which Caballero granted.

During the vehicle search, a quantity of suspected marijuana was seized.

Additionally, a quantity of suspected crack cocaine was seized near the exterior of the vehicle which was attributed to Keith J. Caballero.

Deputies arrested Keith J. Caballero and booked him into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

*Possession of Crack Cocaine
*Possession of Marijuana
*Obstruction of Justice
*Failure to Dim Headlights

Keith J. Caballero remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
