TRAFFIC STOP, DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS
JOSHUA PAUL BARNES, RYIENNE CHANTAL BROWN
AMELIA – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Joshua Paul Barnes, 18, of 4609 Porkridge, Benton, LA, on felony drug charges arising from a traffic stop on U.S. 90 near Amelia on Wednesday afternoon.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Joshua Paul Barnes and one passenger, now identified as Ryienne Chantal Barnes, 18, of 167 Jamestown Boulevard, Benton, LA.
The deputy conducted interviews of both subjects and at the conclusion of that process, the deputy believed additional investigation was warranted.
The deputy requested consent to search the vehicle which was granted. During the subsequent vehicle search, a quantity of LSD (Lysergic Acid) and drug paraphernalia was seized. Joshua Barnes turned over a quantity of marijuana to the deputy.
Joshua Paul Barnes was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of LSD (Lysergic Acid)
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
*Following too Closely
Joshua Paul Barnes remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Ryienne Chantal Brown was issued misdemeanor summonses for:
*Possession of Marijuana
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Ryienne Chantal Brown was released with a court date.
